Syscon Justice Systems Appointed to IJIS Institute Corrections Advisory Committee

Richmond, BC - October 12, 2011

Syscon Justice Systems, the global leader in offender management software, announced today that it has been appointed to serve on the IJIS Institute Corrections Advisory Committee, effective immediately. Brian Day, Syscon’s Director Product Management, will fulfill the obligations of the role.

“The IJIS Institute provides a vitally important service to the full spectrum of criminal justice, including corrections,” said Ken McGovern, Syscon’s Vice President Marketing. “By bringing together representatives from industry with experts from all levels of government, the IJIS Institute ensures the advancement of technologies for effective information sharing. We welcome the opportunity to contribute our expertise through the Corrections Advisory Committee.”

“The IJIS Institute Corrections Advisory Committee will focus on the advancement of information sharing standards among the institutional and community Corrections communities,” said Glenn Archer, executive director of the IJIS Institute. “The current lack of understanding of national information sharing standards is a major obstacle for administrative and IT professionals in this sector.” Objectives for the IJIS Institute Corrections Advisory Committee will include review and recommendations to the IJIS Institute Board of Directors, and other IJIS Institute committees on functionality, training, technical assistance, and innovative technology solutions for the Corrections communities.

The committee has already commenced its work. Chris Litton, Director Solutions and Architecture, Senior Business Designer at Sierra Systems, chairs the committee. “We have put together a strong team from across a number of justice- and corrections-focused companies, and have begun to craft our advisory agenda. We look forward to sharing those ideas with the IJIS Institute,” said Litton.
